About Us

Our Mission

At Grace in Death, we believe in honoring the sacredness of every individual’s life journey. Our mission is to offer emotional, spiritual, and practical support during one of life’s most challenging transitions. We encourage the family and clients to be in control as they navigate the end-of-life process personally, to live fully and die prepared.

Our approach is holistic, focusing on the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of
this journey, empowering and validating the myriad of emotions our clients and families are experiencing.

How We Can Help

Death is a profound and inevitable part of our journey. Yet, it remains a topic many fear to broach. At Grace in Death, we courageously embrace these moments, providing support so that no one has to face them alone or in suffering. We serve as companions, advocates, and educators for individuals and their families.
End-of-life doulas provide non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying person and their family, which may include planning, education, and guidance, as well as emotional and spiritual care. We work closely with you, your family, and, if desired, your healthcare team to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach, striving for tranquility and harmony in the process.
We are here to nurture, inform, and guide, easing the journey through life’s final stages, whether at home or in a care facility. Our personalized approach reduces overwhelm and ensures you’re not alone in handling the complexities that might otherwise add stress. This allows you and your loved ones to focus on sharing peaceful, quality moments. We foster open communication, create space for emotions, and help navigate difficult conversations, all while treating every aspect of this time with utmost care and dignity.
At Grace in Death, we are committed to honoring your wishes, preserving your legacy, and helping you and your loved ones find peace and fulfillment in saying goodbye. Entrust us with this journey, recognizing our role as a privileged and honorable part of this sacred time.
“If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?”

Mariclare McCann, BSN, RN

Founder
Mariclare McCann, the heart behind Grace in Death, is more than an End-of-Life Doula — she is a beacon of empathy, expertise, and genuine care in end-of-life support. Her journey into this field is deeply personal, driven by her experiences and a profound understanding of the need for compassionate care that transcends medical boundaries.

Mariclare’s path to becoming a doula was born out of a recognition that people facing the end of life needed more than just medical support; they needed someone unafraid to talk about death, to listen, discern, and guide them with empathy and understanding through their final moments. This realization sparked her dedication to changing the conversation around end-of-life care, focusing on providing support that honors the individual’s dignity, aids the family through this transition, and celebrates the unique journey of each life.

In her practice, Mariclare addresses a significant gap in the healthcare system. End-of-life doula services, still emerging in recognition by insurance companies, play a vital role in the emotional journey of families dealing with terminal illnesses.

Mariclare’s commitment at Grace in Death is to transform the end-of-life experience into one marked by grace, dignity, and meaningful connection, ensuring a journey that honors life in its final chapter.
